Hello! My Name is Mrs. Erica Matthews 

 

  

Personal Life: I was born and raised on Long Island in New York.  I have one sister who still lives in New York along with my mother and father. I met my husband in New York while he was working there. We fell in love, got married, bought a house then decided to move! Kansas here we come! Scott is originally from Olathe, which is where we currently live. We have one son Brady, who is the highlight of my life. He is a smart, fun-loving, kind-hearted child who is always on the move! We also have two dogs, Ellie (little dog) and Rocky (big dog). Your child will come home and TALK all about my family! 

 
 College Years: I first attended Nassau Community College and graduated with my Associates degree in Early Childhood Education. I then got my Bachelors in Education at SUNY at Old Westbury. I continued my education by obtaining my Masters in Reading from Long Island University at C.W. Post.

 

Experience: I taught kindergarten for 4 years in New York. Since moving to Kansas in 2005, I have taught here at Stony Point North.  I have taught 2 years of Kindergarten, 4 years of first grade, 4 years of second grade and now back to first grade for 4 more years. My experience, I feel, helps me understand what the students have learned in kindergarten and what they need to know to be ready for second grade!
